My ecd journey

Why did I decide to become a teacher? Well let's just start at the very beginning. I was adopted when I was 1. At the time they were in need of having older children be adopted. As I got older I wondered why God choose me to be adopted into a loving and caring family over say someone else. Then I realized that I loved working with children and that made me wonder if I could serve children in China where I was adopted. When I went to China in 2018 for a missions trip, I found that it wasn't where I was being called. So, I am still finding where God is calling me to. All I know is that I want to work with young children. Teaching and mentoring younger people has always been something I have enjoyed and have been good at. So I'm just pursing that passion and gift of mine.

Where am I at in my education? I am currently one semester from graduating from Ozark Technical Community College with my Associates in Early Childhood Development. If I am called into working in a elementary classroom I will pursue my Bachelor's in education at Missouri State University. I have already obtained my Certificate of Achievement in Early Childhood Development.

What is my favorite thing about being a teacher? Getting to see the children you work with grow, smile, and overcome struggles. I especially enjoy making a personal relationship with each and every child. I love teaching children through hands-on experiences because I believe it not only makes it fun, but helps them retain what they learn better.

What is my biggest struggle as a teacher? My biggest struggles is probably my vision or lack of it. I am legally blind, but I try to not let it get in my way. It simply just means I have to overcome my obstacles and find new ways to do things. My hope is that my students will see that I can teach them even when something could have stopped me.
