What Is Creativity and Why Is it Important?

What Is Creativity?

Creativity is seeing possibilities, making things happen, making connections between things that do not seem to be related, and coming up with solutions to problems for which there is no single one answer.

Creativity is more than slapping pants on paper and gluing googly eyes to crafts and calling it macaroni. Creativity is making nothing into something, it's coming up with a song, making props for a play, acting in a play, writing a beautiful story, and problem solving.

Process Over Product

Product is when you take a art piece and say here recreate this and expect it to be perfect.

Process is where you give children materials and set them free. This gives children the freedom, time, and allowing them to do art experiences in their own way. You can promote process by not interrupting their flow, having inspiration art within your classroom, asking open-ended questions, and by modeling it within the classroom.

Why Is Creativity Important?

It is important because children can use their creativity in so many ways now and later use that creative side in their life at work and in their communities. It leaves them open to think deeper and broader.Who knows their creativity may lead to a cure to cancer!
